Dear Mitchell Families,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Kate Mitchell Elementary. I have had the pleasure of being the Principal at Kate Mitchell Elementary for the last 10 years and I love what I do.
I have been in the field of education for nearly 20 years. I began my career as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher in Houston, Texas. I was an assistant principal in Katy, Texas prior to coming to Ames as Principal of Kate Mitchell. Throughout my time in education, I have had the opportunity to teach and work in various schools with students from grades K-5. I love being a part of a school that values high expectations, relationships, and a nurturing heart for kids. At Kate Mitchell, it is our goal to ensure students are thoughtful, responsible, and safe. As we learn to grow and live in our educational community, it is important that we do it together as we show our respect for ourselves, each other and our environment. We do this by accepting our differences and knowing that they make us stronger as a community. Our dedicated staff and I are excited to soon meet you and your children. We value school/family partnerships, as this is key to giving your child the best educational experience possible.
